Hi, I’m Kat Cooper ~ the teacher and founder of Focus and Flourish
- I qualified in 2005 as a primary teacher with first class honours
- I have over 20 years of experience; teaching and working with children and their families
- My varied experience in education includes: Class teacher, Well-being lead, English Curriculum Team, Early Years Lead, Parent Governor, Student Mentor
- I love to travel and I have taught in Malawi and New Zealand
- I live in Knowle, Bristol with my husband and our 2 wonderful children
- I have an enhanced DBS, paediatric first aid and regularly update my safeguarding training
In 2025, I founded Focus and Flourish to offer a warm, community-based provision where children and families are supported in a thoughtful, individualised way.

My approach to learning
My aim for every session is to create a warm and supportive environment where children feel valued, grow in confidence and enjoy exploring new ideas.
As a teacher I am calm, nurturing and child centred. I believe that positive relationships with both children and their families are the foundation of good teaching, so I take time to get to know each child’s interests, motivations and what inspires them.
I aim to support children in a way that feels encouraging and personalised, adapting learning to suit their pace, needs and curiosity. Sessions are flexible, creative and engaging, using a mix of creative activities, play based learning and gentle guidance to help children feel relaxed and confident in their learning.
